On October 1, a small group of friends and supporters of e3 Partners gathered at the Dallas Country Club.  They were joined by several of the ministry’s leaders and a notable guest speaker – Steve Green.

Mr. Green is best known as the president of the multi-billion dollar craft store, Hobby Lobby.  But since 2009, the Green family has been building something much bigger.  Over the past six years, they have quietly acquired over 40,000 rare biblical artifacts that are now on display in travelling exhibits across the nation.

Their collection includes the oldest surviving manuscript of John 8, dating back to the third century.  It also features several Dead Sea Scroll fragments and one of the largest private collections of Torah scrolls.  As the family continues to acquire more pieces from around the world, they will soon have a permanent home in Washington D.C. for the world to enjoy.

In 2017, the Museum of the Bible will officially open its doors to the public.  The museum will include 430,000 square feet of exhibit space and research labs, just blocks from Capitol Hill and the National Mall.  Visitors will enjoy a state of the art facility that takes them through an interactive experience of the Bible’s narratives, its history, and its global impact through the centuries.  Meanwhile, its 500 seat theater, 100 seat lecture hall, and gathering room will host special events and presentations.

“It’s about the Bible,” remarks Green.  “Not a faith tradition or denomination.”

THE MUSEUM AND I AM SECOND

As the museum comes together and construction continues, I am Second will play a very special role in the impact exhibit located on the second floor, where visitors will explore the Bible’s influence on culture.  But perhaps I am Second’s greatest contribution will be located under the museum.

The Museum of the Bible is situated on top of the Federal Center SW Metro station, operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.  Millions of passengers pass through the subway station every year.  As commuters ride the escalators up to street level, they will be greeted by a massive overhead video panel that will feature I am Second and, ultimately, the Gospel message.

e3 Partners is raising $4.1 million to fund our part in this very special opportunity to reach the nation’s capital and beyond.  With your donation, you can be a part of it.  To learn more, contact Joshua Waggoner at joshua.waggoner@e3partners.org.
