Over the last two years, I have been richly blessed with a community of like-minded Christ followers and opportunities to grow my character and faith in innumerable ways. I have been humbled by the friendships and service opportunities as I have served with the Porch ministry for over a year and participated in several of Watermark Community Church's ministries such as Regeneration, Women's Bible Study, the Collective, and more!

Now the opportunity has arisen to go on a short term-mission trip to Ethiopia in partnership with the e3 Partners Ministry and Watermark Community Church. Before I tell you all about the trip, let me tell you about my history with missions. I myself was a missionary kid (an MK if you will) when my family served in Honduras and Costa Rica during the early 2000's. Even after returning to the United States, I participated in short-terms mission trips in middle-school and high school to various locations in and outside of the United States. Mission trips have always been close to my heart and such a rich way to connect to God's love and desire for us to go forth and share that love with others.

This summer, we will be partnered with Ethiopian Christians to help fulfill e3 Ethiopia's vision of planting churches within the unreached people groups. Our team will go forth with translators and local Christians to perform children's outreach and VBS (Vacation Bible School), as well as men and women's outreach.

Your help is needed!

Firstly, I ask you to please pray. Pray for our team as we go forth, pray for the church of believers in Ethiopia, pray for those who we will be meeting, and please pray for me. Evil will seek to oppose us, and only the power of Christ our Lord can go before us and protect us and move the hearts of humankind.

Secondly, I ask you to please give financially if you are so inclined. While this is not more important than prayer, it is still a vital part of this journey. The cost of this trip is $4,165. These funds go toward transportation, food, lodging, translators, and supplies. Any funds raised above and beyond the trip cost will be directed towards the local disciple-makers' training. These funds are due by July 22nd.

Thank you for your support and stay tuned for updates on what God does through this trip!

Thank you everyone for getting me to Ethiopia and back safely! Your prayers and support were absolutely essential. This trip was easy in some ways but so very hard in others. It was such a joyful experience to meet fellow brothers and sisters in Christ with a different language and culture but the same heart for the Lord!

In America, we face the challenge where so many of us try to deny that we are not enough. We are told to be strong, to do it ourselves, to find "success" despite all odds and the cost. We can be blinded to our daily need for Jesus and His saving grace. But in Ethiopia, almost everyone universally recognizes their shortcomings, their sin, and their absolute insufficiency. If they can see their need for a savior, what is stopping them from accepting the Savior that died for them? Fear. So much fear. Fear of their community, their husbands and fathers; fear for their livelihood and lives.

I ask you to join me in praying for freedom for our Ethiopian brothers and sisters. Freedom from the chains of fear, freedom from the patterns of sin that seek to overwhelm, freedom from the powers of darkness that fight against God and His people at every step.

God only knows His plan for me. I do not know if I will ever have the opportunity to see those people again on this side of heaven. But I hope that when I do see them again, it will be in the knowledge that I have been fighting their battles with them even when I am across an ocean.
