Here’s a bit of background information regarding how I came to be involved with Perspectives. Will and I spent approximately 15 years serving with the International Mission Board (IMB) in Bangladesh, Nepal, Northern India, and Bhutan. We raised our children overseas and thought we would spend the rest of our lives there. But God changed our path and brought us back to the states just before COVID hit.
During our time back in the US, I had the privilege of caring for my aging parents. Because I was leaving the home less often in my new role as a caregiver, I decided to enroll in an online Perspectives class. Even with all my mission experience, I was moved by the course and wanted to explore my own missionary Next Steps, right here, in my own community.
My husband observed that Perspectives was an impressive summary of the most crucial topics from his MDiv (Master of Divinity) in International Church Planting. The course unpacks the Biblical heart of God’s mission historically, culturally, and strategically. Students learn about God’s mandate that we are blessed to be a blessing to others. Each of the 15 weeks of the Perspectives course is taught by a different practitioner and participants can receive academic credit for completing the course. All of the classes, which are non-denominational in nature, are run by volunteers.
Recognizing the incredible Kingdom impact of Perspectives in educating, encouraging, and activating the Church, e3 Partners and Perspectives have executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to encourage e3 staff to complete the course and to participate as class coaches, instructors, and coordinators. This MOU also designates us as Next Steps Partners to provide personalized coaching to Perspectives alumni. Our mutual desire is that this collaboration will provide expanded opportunities for students to make practical application of the concepts they have learned through the Perspectives curriculum. A logical first step is to attend a Gospel Conversations Training session, join in the harvest, and even participate in a residency. Another step would be to join us on a short-term trip (local to global). My role is to facilitate this partnership, and to that end I hope you will click here to take a super short Perspectives Poll.
Please visit Perspectives.org to see what classes might be offered in your area. You can choose to sit in on a class this term to see what it is like. The next series will begin in August of 2022. (Please note that the course is offered in-person and online, although the in-person option is recommended when possible.)
I’d like to emphasize that Perspectives Alumni represent many of the one million we’re seeking to train through Made to Multiply. Let’s find them and get them trained soon, so they can begin to train the next generation! Please contact me via email if you have any questions or would like additional information about Perspectives. Thanks for your time and I look forward to speaking with you!
