e3 missionaries Andrew* and Teresa* recently returned from Msambweni, Kenya, filled with gratitude for all God accomplished among the Digo people—an unreached Muslim group in a region once known for its resistance to the Gospel. For more than 20 years, Andrew and Teresa have been leading international mission trips, and their deep partnership with local believers has repeatedly drawn them back to the Digo community.

This journey to Kenya, however, started long before their plane ever touched down. Together with their team, Andrew and Teresa prepared by equipping themselves with practical tools, sharpening their evangelism strategies, and most importantly, surrendering to God’s leading. Even so, nothing could have prepared them for the powerful ways the Holy Spirit moved once they stepped into the villages.

The Impact in Numbers

  • 821 people heard the Gospel
  • 117 professed faith in Jesus Christ
  • 53 new believers trained to share God’s story
  • 38 groups began the journey of becoming house churches

Each number represents a life affected for Christ and a seed planted for eternity.

Stories from the Field

Andrew and Teresa’s team experienced countless moments of awe as they watched the Holy Spirit prepare hearts to receive the Good News. Team members reflected in their post-trip surveys:

  • “There are no words to describe what Jesus allowed us to witness. Many times I couldn’t remember the words I said; many times I understood words in other languages that I don’t speak. Nothing is impossible with Jesus!”
  • “Seeing God move in spite of a heavily Muslim population and sensing how the parables in the New Testament came to life was incredible.”
  • “The Holy Spirit filled our team. We were immersed in His presence, and it was clear He had already prepared the villages to receive His message.”

One team member recalled sharing with someone who had never before heard the Gospel. Another remembered the perfect timing of meeting a man who had traveled hours, waiting for someone to bring him the message of Christ. These moments revealed just how deeply God was orchestrating every step.

Lessons That Last a Lifetime

When asked what impacted them the most, participants shared:

  • Experiencing the Spirit moving through ordinary people who stepped out in faith.
  • Learning to fully rely on God’s power, not their own efforts.
  • Witnessing both the opposition of the enemy and the life-changing freedom of Christ.
  • Sharing the trip with family members and seeing God work through the next generation.
  • Gaining a renewed perspective on the cost of discipleship, as new believers faced persecution from their neighbors.

One parent shared the joy of serving alongside her 18-year-old son, saying:

“Seeing my son grow in his relationship with Jesus and all the work God did through him … we will carry that forever.”

What’s Next in Msambweni

The story doesn’t end here. In the six villages where Andrew and Teresa’s teams served, discipleship groups have already begun. Even more exciting, some of the brand-new believers have already led others to Christ! This multiplication of faith is the heartbeat of God’s mission: to see His Kingdom expand through transformed lives.

In Kenya, believers often say: “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, again!” We echo that cry as we celebrate the new life springing up among the Digo people.

God is on the move in Kenya. And we are humbled to be part of His story.
