CT Malawi Orphans
What is Community Transformation (CT)?
The process begins by engaging with a community in long-term relationships to better understand their survival strategies and resources. Over time, the local church works alongside its neighbors to maximize those strengths and resources through community improvement efforts. Rather than relying on outside aid or assistance, the community plays the lead role in its own transformation under the leadership of the local church. e3 Partners serves as a catalyst to these efforts, helping residents understand their role and take the first steps. Through this work, the local church becomes the central institution of positive change and opens the whole community to the truth of the Gospel.
What is happening with CT in Malawi?
We currently having started CT initiatives in Rumphi, Chikwawa, Nkhata Bay, Goliate, Dedza, Liwonde, and Phalombe. We have done many trainings in these areas including: Business and Enterpreneurship, Farming God's Way, Soap Making Training, Medicine Garden Training, and Caregiver training. Our goal is to eventually work in all areas of Malawi.It is our prayer, that through the efforts of Community Transformation, the lives of the orphans and vulnerable children in Malawi will be changed. We hope to help in the development of strong communities that will be able to care for and love their children well! In a country suffering from severe poverty, high percentage of AIDs patients, the number of orphans makes up about 10% of their population.
What can we do to help?
PRAY: Please pray for wisdom for those of us with e3 who are working in Malawi. Help us to see the work that God is doing and for us to follow his lead!GO: We will be returning to Malawi in May of 2021 and June of 2021 to do three church planting trips. Please consider being a member of our team! There are also tentative plans for a CT trip in September 2021.
GIVE: With CT, we work very hard to keep from spending any money and creating dependence of foreign aid, but never the less, the work still does cost some money and we need lots of help with this, especially as our programs develop and spread to other areas! Please consider giving!
A verse that recently stood out to me was Ezekiel 16:49, when Ezekiel was prophesying to Judah, during their Babylonian captivity: "Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom, she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy." When I think of Sodom, I think of the terrible perversion we read about in Genesis, when the angels were trying to extricate Lot and his family from the city. Before I read this verse, I thought I had very little in common with Sodom, but look at what Ezekiel said about Sodom! This describes me!: excess of food, prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy (or did very little!) If you think this verse describes you, decide today to do something about it! I feel that God will use Community Transformation in Malawi to do great things. Please join our effort by praying for us and contributing financially, if God leads you to do that!
