Our Watermark Church Team will be partnering with Ethiopian believers, sharing Christ & planting churches in remote parts of Ethiopia where they have never heard the name of Jesus.
With the help of our Ethiopian translators, the team from Watermark will share the message that changed our lives: the Gospel. The Gospel is the core belief of the Christian faith that through faith in Jesus’s death and resurrection, we can find forgiveness from our sins, reconciliation with God, and eternal life when we die.
Although I grew up going to church, I did not fully believe the Gospel until my freshman year of college. When I finally understood that God loves me unconditionally and I pursued a personal relationship with Him, I went from being anxious, self-absorbed, and controlling to peaceful, others-focused, and free.
Why am I going to Ethiopia? I am going to Ethiopia because I deeply believe that every person deserves the chance to hear the message of Christianity and make their own informed decision about faith. Many of the Ethiopians we will meet will not have access to various religious resources or communities to explore different beliefs. Regardless of what they believe, they deserve access to information. Additionally, our team is going to encourage our Ethiopian Christian translators who have given their lives to the difficult work of bringing Christianity to where it has not gone before. Finally, I am going because I have a lot to learn from the Ethiopian people and culture! I believe all people can teach us something valuable, and last time I went to Ethiopia I learned so much about generosity, hospitality, simplicity, perseverance, and hope.
How can you be involved? First and foremost, I need your help in prayer. Please pray for the safety, health, and unity of my team from Watermark. Pray that our time in Ethiopia is marked by selflessness and love toward all Ethiopians we meet. Second, consider giving. I need to raise all funds by June 1.
